Collection: Seraphinite

What is Seraphinite?

Seraphinite is a trade name for a stone that shimmers green to silver in radiating sprays of the mineral clinochlore, magnesium chlorite.  Most seraphinite on the market comes from Russia and is sold and traded as carved stones and in jewelry. Our sample comes from the Korshunovskoye iron deposit, west of Lake Baikal, Russia.

Under the Microscope

In cross-polarized light the anomalous “Berlin Blue” colors are spectacular. There are few minerals that display this color, and our design showcases this unique phenomenon. The feathery texture of the rock is transferred beautifully in thin section, evoking images of angel wings, steep mountains and waterfalls. What do you see?
