Hello everyone, and welcome to our first blog of many!

To get right to it, what is “Terra Persona” all about… besides creating amazing products based on cool rock pictures in a sustainable and ethical way? To start, let’s do some translating:

Definition of terra
Definition of persona

It translates to “earth person” or “portrayal of an earthy character.”

In essence, Terra Persona is about reflecting the earth in how you choose to be, live, and do… or rather expressing yourself as an extension of the planet upon which you walk. Okay, maybe that’s a little philosophical and maybe you just want to surround yourself with cool looking stuff that has a meaning behind it.

We’re cool with however you want to see it.

Being geologists by trade, rocks and minerals have secured a special place in our hearts and in our homes. We also know that you don’t need a geology degree to appreciate the beauty of rocks and be a collector.

Through Terra Persona, we can share with you a glimpse into the earth as we see it: under a microscope, as a formula, as part of a dynamic ecosystem, or as a large scale event. Not only can you learn about something new, but you can carry a little bit of that knowledge with you in the products we design!

The Back Story

The idea of Terra Persona was born during our graduate studies at CSM in Golden, Colorado. Out of the beauty we found in geology, we would come up with ideas of things we could wear or put in our homes. And yes, we are super geo-nerdy. Some of the ideas came straight from textbooks and were further inspired with the help of a beer at GCB.

As we brainstormed about different products Terra Persona would create, we knew we wanted to include images of the microscopic world. We both have invested hours in the petrography lab looking down microscopes for our own research. Seeing the world under the microscope is an incredible experience that we are excited to share with you!
